Full Moon Cancer

Happy New Year !

This Thursday, December 31st, the full moon will be in her HOME sign of Cancer… filling you and yours with love and light. Close your eyes and ask yourself, what feels SO good to you, that it feels like coming home when you let yourself do/have this thing?  Like the moon in her home sign, imagine that you can sink into the thing that feels most like home to you. Whether it’s chill time with your family, art making, a hot bubble bath, a walk alone in the woods, or a Family Dance Party, set aside some time on Thursday (and/or Friday morning) to enjoy the pleasures of emotional healing and nurturing from our Moon Mother. While it’s good to acknowledge the strong duality of the Cancer Moon (the nurturer) opposite the Capricorn Sun (authoritarian and rule maker,) give yourself a break and choose the thing that FEELS good in the present moment. Stop working so hard – fall into the yummy.

  • • Recommit to being a good Mother to yourself – what one thing can you do today to nurture YOU?
  • • Forgive someone, forgive yourself
  • • Light a candle in front of a picture of your family and/or your extended family and friends.
  • • Celebrate the completion of 2009 with Gratitude. Make a list of the miracles you experienced and burn or bury it

ReSolutions & Mercury Retrogrades (Dec.26, 2009 – Jan 15, 2010)
Many of us can’t help but get excited about an opportunity for a Fresh Start by creating our New Year’s Resolutions. However, it’s wintertime – a time for dreaming and composting, AND Mercury is retrograde affirming the need to reflect and review. So, how can we both dream, review and manifest at the same time?

TIP + New Year’s ReSolutions: One of the synonyms for resolution in the dictionary is Courage, cor meaning heart. I encourage you to lead with your Heart when you create your intentions. PART 1: For the past 3-4 years, I have created a New Year’s collage filled with images of what I would like to experience in the upcoming year. Through the process, I connect to both where I am now and what is important to me. It’s like an X Marks the Spot. A theme/focus usually makes itself known, while at the same time there is room for magic and mystery to appear and play. Because it is winter AND Mercury (the information planet) is retrograde, the best tip I can give is this: Stay open. Think in terms of general themes rather than specific goals or to-dos. Since Mercury is retrograde, you will most likely be visited by long-held desires and longings. Hold them gently and know that more information regarding “to-dos” will come to you once Mercury goes direct. PART 2: When spring arrives, I “amend” my New Years collage by making a second collage. The second one is usually much simpler, focused and direct. It clearly puts forward what my intention is after the dreaming of winter is over.

So, forget about the crazy impromptu promises of New Years Eve, and set some time aside this week to reflect upon what you would really like to experience in 2010. It’s worth it. (I will remind you in the spring, near the New Moon in Aries, that it is time to collage again.)

Have Heart,
